When it comes to gambling, Russia most probably has the most lenient laws. The country had 50 casinos across Moscow by 2002, and soon, many other areas in the country became gambling zones. In the gambling zones, both land-based casinos and online casinos are legal.
However, in 2009, the prime minister of Russia, Vladimir Putin, instructed the local government to have a wide-scale ban on many casinos and only open five legal gambling zones. In this article, we will know the four gambling zones across Russia.

- The Altai Republic
In Serbia, there is a relatively small area called the Altai Republic. The city has so much connection to nature that it preserved the mountains of Belukha, the Chulyshman Valley, and other natural landmarks.
The area is also famous for many outdoor activities like kayaking, mountain climbing, and hiking. But currently, it is home to the Altai Palace Casino in Gorno-Altaysk. The casino launched in 2014, and many visit the casino to play table games like poker, roulette, and blackjack. The casino also has multiple slot machines.
The operating gambling zone in Altai is the Siberian Coin. There are currently two investors in the area, and one of them planned to open four more entertainment centers last 2019.
- Primorsky Krai
The gambling zone of Primorsky Krai is on the Pacific coast of Russia, across Japan. This area is far from Kaliningrad and marked by the city of Vladivostok. Since the area has a port, it would mean that other foreign visitors could easily access the casinos build in the city of Vladivostok. The town currently became a gambling hub and housed the oldest casino in the area, Tigre de Cristal.
The easy access to the area to other foreign gamblers could end up becoming the main gambling center of Russia.
- Kaliningrad Oblast
The Kaliningrad Oblast is between Poland and Lithuania. The location of the area made it accessible to travelers in Europe, thus expanding more casinos. - Krasnodar Krai and Sochi
