blog post - Top 5 Gambling Zones in Russia

When it comes to gambling, Russia most probably has the most lenient laws. The country had 50 casinos across Moscow by 2002, and soon, many other areas in the country became gambling zones. In the gambling zones, both land-based casinos and online casinos are legal.

However, in 2009, the prime minister of Russia, Vladimir Putin, instructed the local government to have a wide-scale ban on many casinos and only open five legal gambling zones. In this article, we will know the four gambling zones across Russia.

  1. The Altai Republic

In Serbia, there is a relatively small area called the Altai Republic. The city has so much connection to nature that it preserved the mountains of Belukha, the Chulyshman Valley, and other natural landmarks.

The area is also famous for many outdoor activities like kayaking, mountain climbing, and hiking. But currently, it is home to the Altai Palace Casino in Gorno-Altaysk. The casino launched in 2014, and many visit the casino to play table games like poker, roulette, and blackjack. The casino also has multiple slot machines.

The operating gambling zone in Altai is the Siberian Coin. There are currently two investors in the area, and one of them planned to open four more entertainment centers last 2019.

  1. Primorsky Krai

The gambling zone of Primorsky Krai is on the Pacific coast of Russia, across Japan. This area is far from Kaliningrad and marked by the city of Vladivostok. Since the area has a port, it would mean that other foreign visitors could easily access the casinos build in the city of Vladivostok. The town currently became a gambling hub and housed the oldest casino in the area, Tigre de Cristal.

The easy access to the area to other foreign gamblers could end up becoming the main gambling center of Russia.

  1. Kaliningrad Oblast

The Kaliningrad Oblast is between Poland and Lithuania. The location of the area made it accessible to travelers in Europe, thus expanding more casinos. Besides the old museums and churches in the area, tourists also like to visit the famous casinos like the Sobraine Casino, which houses more than 350 gaming machines.

  1. Krasnodar Krai and Sochi

Krasnodar Krai is in the southern part of Russia; thus, becoming one of the most visited areas in the country. The area is home to the city of Sochi and Azov, which are also famous for hosting the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The Sochi Casino and Resort is one of the best casinos in the country. It is the biggest one in the country and houses some of the most popular gaming machines, having a total of 500 slot games. The casino launched in 2014 and was the first casino ever built in the region.

  1. Crimea

Crimea became a gambling zone in 2019, as endorsed by President Vladimir Putin. However, gambling facilities already began in 2017. The total gambling area of Crimea is 16.8 hectares on the Black Sea coast.

The gambling zone is currently the latest addition, and the Head of the Republic, Sergey Aksyonov, is still asking for more investors to build the new casinos in the area.
